Bhagawad Gita shlokas

Bhagavad-Gita shlokas: Verse a Day

Bhagawan speaks:
There are two supreme pathways for Karma
Karma sanyas or abandoning the mundane karma
Karmayoga or abandoning no karma
Continue life with normal actions and activites
Yet,  stay non-attached to the karma
And of the two, karma yoga is superior
Merely because it is easier to apply  //5:2//

1.  Sakam Karma (Actions with attachment)

Attachment is man made.  It does not not exist in reality.  Desire is the driving force for all such actions.

Success comes with training, planning and hard work.

Side effects:  Tension, anxiety, happiness, Sadness, Stress etc.

2.  Nishkam Karma or Karma Yoga (Non attached actions)

Non attachment is the default wheteher we like it or not.  We have to realize it one day or the other.

Success again depends on training, planning and hard work.  On the outside there is no difference between 1 and 2.  Everything being equal, a non attached person will alway be ahead of an attached person because:

  •      Fewer distracting side effects mentioned above i.e stress, anxiety etc.
  •      existence aligns better

3. Karma Sanyas (Renunciation of routine actions (karma)

Attachment and non attachment doe apply to these people as well.  They, however, have decided to pursue a different life style.  They spend their time in search of the divine.  Buddha  is the greatest example; he left a kingdom in pursuit of an ascetic life.  He did not return to that life ever again.

Krishna on the other had lives like a karma yogi all his life........and that is what he prefers.....
